Now for some bird talk, I'm becoming very interested in Toucans, Keel Billed Toucans to be exact. Theyare amazing! Been reading care sheets and looking at breeder websites. I hope to get one someday, and I know I say I hope to get alot of things, but I'll be getting a Toucan for sure.

Thank very much... i can tell you that my african gray timneh is the best bird i ever bought... the other two i have just do not compare..i still love them but just no comparison in smarts, personality and contentment and easy keeper.... he is wonderful beyond words.. he is in my back ground now calling out to my husband ..hellooooooooooooooooooo how are you? My hubby is trying to tell me something about our new water system and Mr Cash is saying oh okay that sounds good ... okay ..bla bla bla.. he asks to come out .... he asks for cookies ,,he knows his telephone number,,, he knows his african gray song.."iam an african grayyyyyyyyyyyyyy ,,i gotta lot to sayyyyyyyyyyyyy,,, he is just a very cool guy,, and the only thing about africans grays {congos and timnehs are the same in brains{ just congo a little bigger and more red on tail} is they are so smart that they notice everything.. so you should introduce and expose them to things very gently and slowly... so they can take it all in and feel relaxed.. don't let them feel nervous but confident.. i love my Mr Cash {his name because i ran home to get my money after i met him} haha

I second that. Granted I have a Congo...but like you said Liz, same brains. They are so entertaining...I would like to see someone try not to laugh when they get going.

What amazes me the most is how well they mimic mechanical sounds. If you get within two steps of the microwave Bongo mimics the sound of the buttons being pressed and the timer going off to a T. He mimics the sound of my fathers Nextel (both ring and the "out of range" tone), makes the squeling noise of every cabinet in the house, and calls our 100 pound German Shepherd "Kitty".

...great birds. :D

I can totally understand everything your saying.. if i could i would only buy more grays .. he just said Hellllllllloooooo .. so what are you doing.. when he does'nt want a cookie or cracker i gave him he throws it down and then says .. "what did you do that for"" i am always laughing with him.. and he laughs with such robust genuine laughter.. you would think he was human... they are just the best.............

I know the feeling. My bird has been cracking me up for years, especially the laugh mimick thing. Mine has an evil laugh like Kruella Deville
