OK. This is my first time going threw the breeding stage. They are both separated in a 20 gallon long. So its 2 weeks between her laying eggs. The first time they dug a whole in the front of the tank. Then starting swimming crazy up the side of the tank. First the con then the flower. Then I noticed the eggs. Then after a day she starting eating them...

You sure he fertilizes it? Females will lay eggs even alone in a tank even if there's no male. He has to fertilize them or else the female will just eat them. I saw my male fertilizing them and even days after only a few got fungus then she started eating them off

He was grinding against the eggs after she laid them.
Yeah he fertilized it or at least he attempted to. Some fish are sterile. People say it takes 6 months for ZZ to mature compared to Kamfa which is 2 years it's in the stickies

Thanks for the info. Very helpful. Will be following your updates. Good luck!
Post some pictures of your Flowerhorn. Let them just do their thing. I can tell you this they will eventually if both are fertile will have fry. It takes time for young parents or even new parents

These pics were when I first got him 2 weeks ago. Been feeding Okiko Platinum so his reds and blues are coming out more now. I'll get newer pics tonight.939934-68ed132743448c241727886dbd335a13.jpg 939933-3246c1af6c78fb6ab764929a221dce87.jpg

Great! I hear that product is not good for fish due to the crazy high protein content. Did you vent your fish is it a male for sure? I mean if he went behind the female after laying eggs its 100 percent male a female will never do that with another female.

I haven't vented him yet but I can see his kok growing and his behavior leeds me to believe he's male. I have a female zz and she's way shy compared to him. This little guy has an awesome personality!
