Female Fishkeepers...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
There are 3 women who work at my LFS. Two of them are probably age 18-20 and the other woman is the owners mother, probably age 65.

It's always such a joy to go there and talk to people who actually know jack about jack dempsy's and whatnot. I have been in there looking around and witnessed some men come in and ask for "the fish guy" .. as if the women arent able to handle any fish related situations..
Its kindof sad, sometimes funny..

The older women probably knows more about the fish than the owner honestly. She has done her homework.

And yes they are MFK'rs.. they have a 600gallon temporary set up with a very large red tail cat cruising around. They stock a few other interesting fish as well.

Ima female - 23 years old. I have a Planted 125 and a 30 gal for small inverts (zig zags & shrimp). I have a 180 that im currently setting up as a river tank for my clown loaches, a 75 gal that I dont know what im going to do with yet and im trying to get ahold of a 210 for an aggesive tank, cichlids n' such. One day i want a 300+ reef tank - but I havent ventured into saltwater yet... o yeah, I live in a 1 bedroom apartment w/ my fiance :) - im talking wall to wall fish tanks :) We are looking to FINALLY get into a house near Nov.

It's not just fishkeeping that females could be better at. Apparently they make good engineeers too. Following is a true story.....;)

Ray & Bubba (certified engineers) were
standing at the base of a flagpole, looking up. A woman
walked by and asked what they were doing.

'We're supposed to find the height of the flagpole,' said
Bubba, 'but we don't have a ladder.'

The woman took a wrench from her purse, loosened a few
bolts, and laid the pole down. Then she took a tape
measure from her pocket, took a measurement, announced,
'Eighteen feet, six inches', and walked away.

Ray shook his head and laughed. 'Ain't that just like a woman!

We ask for the height and she gives us the length!'

Bubba and Ray are currently working for the government....
... and helping to design the next "stimulus package."

And the woman went on to..........

To all the ladies out there... what type of monsters are you stocking?

Currently in my tank I'm keeping JD's and Oscars though all still quite small...
My largest is my Albino Oscar at roughly 4-5 inchs

I'm male, but I felt like saying my Fiance has a betta 8D

haha that story is so true, women do make good engineers.

my mum is an engineer and we went to one of her friends parties the other day. majority of ppl there were male engineers.
so the host pulls out one of those patio heaters and there r 6 male engineers standing round it for half an hour unable to figure out how to turn it on.
my mum walks over, after taking lots of pictures to post up at work for 'how many engineers does it take to turn on a patio heater', opens the gas canister compartment and flicks the ignition switch.....hey presto it was alight lol

and i stock all sorts lol
currently got a grow out tank atm, fire eel, peacock eel and spiny eel, 4 spotted raphaels, 4 albino plecs, 2 common, 1 panaque, 3 sen polys, 1 bgk, 1 female FH and a venustus. everything is 6" or under. my bgk doesnt grow, i inherited him and hes about 5 years old now and never grown since after the first year the other bloke had him.
then in another tank my male FH.

That is a hilarious story, and what makes it better is she has the photos to prove it all.

Classic!
