For my monitor, I just buy large bags of dirt at Wal Mart. I know its pretty good stuff. Even if it wasn;t, I know my mmonitor doesn't eat dirt :D
 
it does have a natural fertilizer (manure)

so i will be going to go dig up some dirt now.
 
well im gettting 50 bucks today so ill go to home depot and get 3 25 pound bags of gardenplus top soil and 1 or 2 bags of play sand and maybe some peat moss. sound good? and ill order the temp gun today also!!!!!!
 
just buy regular scotts top soil. its like 3 bux a bag. and then just get some regular play sand. and a small bale of peat moss.

i would go with a 50% top, 25% sand, 25% peat. it will hold moisture good and it will be good for growing if you decide to go with live plants
 
alright no im not going to do live plants any more so ill get 4 bags top soil 2 bags of sand and 2 bags of peat moss cause i have to re dirt my 30 gal for sav
 
that sounds good. you wont need all the peat. it comes compressed in bails ussually and it expands ALOT.

you can also mix in leaf litter from out side. i ussually boil mine for a few mins to kill anything that might be on there. let it dry and add to the mix
