i think that the biggest problem with larger wolf fish species is that they require solitary tanks, and are nocturnal. giving them tank mates is always a bad idea since you can just wind up coming next morning and find a massacre.
O yeah from what I've heard is they are extremely mean fish even at a small size. Doubt you could keep them with anything even a heavily armoured cat would still probably fall victim.
they are pretty mean, i have actually seen them attack fish twice their size, latch onto it and shake their whole body, tearing out chunks.

From what I hear on tigers is they aren't nearly as mean as their wild counterparts. Seems like something about being stuck in a glass box really chills em out.
likely, Hydrocynus vittatus are the more commonly kept specimen and more decoile, Hydrocynus goliath is aggressive but also too big for tank keeping.
i considered having a pond with hoplias aimara since i do have funds for it
and might as well mention piranhas, the pound for pound strongest biter among fishes
The only thing I can say for Piranhas is they're kinda sissies (most pygos, at least).
