Festae, Carpintis, Managuense project

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
To see what comes out lol

Festae is going to provide the vibrant colors
carpintis is going to provide pearling
Jag is going to provide a more predatory mouth/body and teeth

I'm basically trying to make an american flowerhorn-type deal without any of the genetics that make up Asian FH. Minus the focus on a huge nuchal hump. I'm more focusing on making this thing an insanely colored/pearled predatory looking fish. The jag genes should make it beefier too

i fully support your plan i to tried to do the same thing by making a breed of fish thats not a flowerhorn and has no amphilophus like the flowerhorn with some texas dovii hybrids but ran into a big problem with the extreme demon like temper of the dovii your seem to be doing it right by saving the bad boy for last i can't wait to see your progress i gave up on my project after one of the males almost killed a female synspilum three almost three times his size and i couldnt find a male synspilum good luck

Thanks man, that hybrid sounds fierce! Got any pics? I wouldn't put my hand in the tank lol I wonder how big theyd get? If they achieved full dovi size status but with the same body pearling as Texas that would be insane! I do plan to commit this, the LFS owner was quite wrong on the sex of my TeX so its a female tho :/ I do also have a male festae I planned on trading for a female so no biggie, its just twice as small as the Texas lol gotta beef him up or find a male carpintis. We may be trading my friends normal jag in for a gold jag to use instead since this one LFS gets them constantly. That or I was going to check Rapps lol

striped red texas

The ones I've seen have the red of a festae and the pearling of a carpintis and a more carpi like body. There is always variation though, I don't really want stripes so I'd probably try to breed some back to a carpi to see if it wouldn't get rid of it of they all had em

Those are some monsters man! Very close to what I'd like my final product to be like. A colorful pearly predatory cichlid. I'd love to see how big they get, as I said if they achieve full dovii size with the Texas pearling that would be truly insane.

lol. Prove iT.

I cant find a pic right now but a festae texas hybrid is like a convict texas hybrid where the hybrid resembles more of the convict than the texas the festaes genes are perhaps stronger than the texas

I am currently having issues with my red terror (from Jeff rapps) fighting with my electric blue jack dempsey. The jack is bigger and usually beats the red terror but this thing is relentless. She will not mess with the carpintis but has issues with my jack. Any input on how keep them living together in peace or is it only gonna get ugly once they mature? I have attached pics they are still young and I would like to keep them alive before it becomes a disaster.

I say move the terror now, ebjd can be sensitive and if she's picking on it she may kill it
