The Grotto
Here is my lil group of Festae. I picked up 6 wild females from Cichlvr and added them to my group of 6 F1's that ive been growing out. My previous group is male heavy so the females are a nice balance. And yes they are 100% female, they were vented by Dan and myself plus they are showing a blush tone to their body and i can see the black spot in some of the dorsals. I have move the Ornatums out of this tank after i took these videos because they were dominant and may cause issues with my festae and i dont want anything interferring with my festaes:) And when i pulled the Ornatums i vented them and they are all male!! This group of festae range from 2-3.5"

Very Nice, but how come your mixing f1s with f0s? Just curious.

Thank you. The F1's are the from the batch I grew out from eggs and the last of their fathers bloodline. So they're important to me, plus they unrelated to the wild as more than likely the wilds were farmed and prolly related. F1's are basically just as good as any wild caught. And the fry from the two will produce healthier genes than two different set of F1's. Also the F1's are Ecuador and the wilds are from Peru

Ah Right on. What would you call a F1xF0? And will a peru x ecuador produce a different coloring or will they all be the same.

I believe they would technically be F2?? And there isn't much difference in color between the two. I also have a wild male coming in sometime and possibly a larger wild pair but that hasn't happened yet so we'll see:)

Beautiful Festae Colony Fam! The F1's and F0's are sure to make a more brighter future for Festae's in the hobby. Good stuff, thats how you keep those good genes going!

Very nice FWP, I once had a group of six F1's from Rapps and started losing them one by one due to aggression at about the 3-4" size range. Good luck on yours being a little more mellow.
