Festae colony:)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thanks again guys:) I will keep each pair in their own tank once formed. All my pairs have their own tanks. And for the sexing the females were vented prior to purchase I also vented when they arrived just to verify. But once I had them in with my group I could def see a difference between the females and my group which I believe are all males

CL's and their ick, those guys are terrrible! The festae look great Jason. Yours are ahaed of my group a ways. Mine are just now an 1" TL.

Be nice Justin. ;)

I've found the secret to keeping clown loaches is actually bumping the temp up to 84ish all the time. Since I started doing that, I've had no problems with them. They see those temperatures a lot in their natural habitat, I've kept them at 86 with no problems at all.
They are also a lot more active and less shy at high temps I've found. And eat much more. Mine will actually swim up to the surface and eat. Now, the question is can your other fish handle those temps... That's what will restrict tank mates.
Someone might come along and disagree with me about the high temp thing, but that's my experience with the species. They seem to simply do poorly at around 78.
They may be prone to disease and hard to raise, but when you get some happy healthy clowns settled in a tank, there are few fish that have such a great personality. They make me laugh every day.

Festae are looking good! Sorry for the derail. ;)

hey thanks, there was no derail:) the temp has been 82-84 the last week and they do seem more active. we'll see if that helps.

thank you guys:) Its gonna be fun trying to find tunes that are appropriate for mfk for all my videos...;)

Ok the Ick has been cleared for a week now and everyone is looking great!! i may have to post an update on them sooner than i thought lol this group of festae has been putting it on like crazy since i moved out the Ornatums:) and they all eat like pigs!! shouldnt be too long maybe a couple more months before i see some pairing:)

I like your plan with the wilds and F1's....but I really have a hard time with anyone being able to tell if they are female or male by venting at that size...
keep up posted....would really like to know if this is possible.....
either way ...Nice Fish!!!!!!
