Festae Fry?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The spot just before the caudal looks festae to me, if it were mayan, the spot would extend top to bottom of the tail region, yours is only in the upper half.
The Y bar, which is also an indicator has not developed yet, and is just starting in the 1st pic below, I think in my pic, it is a bit older than yours.
Here is a young festae to compare, upper middle.

It grew into this.

That mayan doesn't look like my fish. The bands are different. The spot on the tail of the Mayan goes across the whole tail, not the case on my fish. The head also looks a little different.

Im by far no pro but those are festae ive been doing to much research and looking at pics thats how they look when there young give it a few weeks and youll see a dramitic difference if you feed them and keep the water clean .Mine were similar but more spangling when i got them and now 50 days later the biggest is 3+" and there starting to pair off i guess because there fighting like crazy gill flaring lip locking etc. but rest assured those are festae ,and i know some pros here will let ya know for 100% sure .Post pics here when they get bigger i wanna see

If you look at the tailspots on your pic, you shoul be able to tell that the OP has festae not mayans. Festae have much smaller tail/eye spot than mayans.

I think everyone has pretty much sumed it up........Festae. There just young and still show juvi colors and patterns. No one will be to tell the quality of them. Take care of them and see how they turn out.
