They don't hurt your blood parrot? I think mine would fare badly in the M. festae tank.

Looking nice, and looking like probable females.

It’s interesting, in my experience with blood parrots over the years, none of my aggressive cichlids other than a flowerhorn male have been mean to them. Not sure if fish can tell they are deformed or what not but none of the fish I have ever go that hard at them. Usually like a little push to tell them to get out the way. The blood parrot in my tank is probabaly the smallest fish in the tank and acts like the alpha even though it’s not. Fun fish w a lot of personality

My poor blood parrot got the living snot beaten out of her by a male red Texas. But there's that flowerhorn blood.... I rescued her just in time and she now rules a tank of firemouths, all swagger and strut. I might try her with the baby Terrors if Caligula the red Texas wasn't in with them. He even has the festae hiding under the driftwood.

Caligula might do well to realize that his namesake was brought down by a group of malcontents with daggers. The lurking Terrors aren't all that far off from that.... :D

Nice female... This is one of my girls I raised from an egg.... shows the progress

October updates:
My original female is continuing to grow at a quick rate. Now about 7-7.5 inches in size. Colors are also coming out beautifully. Amazing how much festae change color wise into adulthood
