I am in between a Female Festae or a Midas for my standard 4' 90 gallon. If you vote could you leave a message on why you voted the way you did.

Both have their pros and cons but i was curious of others opinions.
These are what I look at: 1.Personality 2. Color 3.Possible Tankmates.

And if you have pics of your own feel free to post.

Thanks!!!

The Midas will make a better solo wet pet IMO. It will grow 3 times faster than the Festae and is a lot more owner interactive IME. The Festae on the other hand is a far more beautiful fish and if you can deal with it's slow growth rate, it will eventually get a personality once it gets some size. Another great solo fish for a 90 gallon is a Trimac. Truly awesome fish too.

Even though I say Midas would be better, I'm still voting Festae :screwy: because I love mine so much.

You're not going to be able to keep tank mates with either and midas are much more owner responsive so I voted midas. I personally think midas (especially barred) are much nicer looking than festae but I might be the only one lol. If you were going to order from a reputable source like rapps have you thought about any other amphilophus stuff? A 90 would be perfect for a pair of saggitae IMO.

You are far more likely to have tankmates with a female festae than with a midas in a 90. My festae you see in my avatar was very good with other fish once the pecking order was established. That pic in my avatar is in fact she and a jag that lived happily together in a 90 for a long time. I took that pic when I introduced them. They had a little "tiff" and settled right in.

for personality go midas for color go festae

the possibility for tank mates for either for is pretty slim

Maybe if you bought an adult festae. My experience has been that if you raise single festae with other cichlids with similiar aggression levels it works out.

Voted Midas but only if its a Barred Midas just because I think that Barred Midas is the best midas out there..if not a Barred then a Female Red Terror would be better..
