I think the festae is a much more brilliant fish for showing off and every midas that i've had has tried to bite my fingers off!

Midas are insanely interactive and fun. I can't tell you how cool they are when they start getting bigger. I agree, festae's are beautiful, stunning fish, but if you want personality, Midas is the way to go IMO.

Midas are a dime a dozen around here but large female festae is a fish that will catch your eye from across the room. They just have that pow factor going for them. Brilliant colors. Go festae.

Jeepers. Out of 40 votes, festae is only in the lead by 4 votes.

Now if I was to have a festae, would I be able to keep other fish with her in a 90 gallon, even when she is full grown? If she cant live with others when she gets bigger I may have to go for the midas for his character.

Also would it be a good idea to buy mutliple fish of the same species (festae or midas)and keep the best one of the batch once they grow a little. Im sure its hard to sex them when under 2". I plan to purchase from either Rapps or FishFarm.

I voted MIDAS. kept both, personality/attitude=midas ownz. still have midas, no longer keep festae. I prefer COLORED midas over stripped (black & white).

u want a fish out patrolling his territory & interacting w/you (midas)?

or u want a fish who (overall) can be skittish, hides, & only comes up for food (festae)?

Are you kidding me? My Festae is out swimming almost all the time. IME, Festae are not hiders and are far from being skittish. Just because you like Midas better don't give false information about the competition.

Either way you go, I don't think you'll be disappointed. You could probably keep a few other fish with a female Festae...are you talking about fish like Silver Dollars or other cichlids? If cichlids maybe a couple of smaller ones like convicts or something.

Keeping multiple Festae of the same species will produce one beautiful dominant Festae and the others will all stay dark and drab colored to show their submission to their fearless leader.
