plz make a sticky how to tell difference between mayans and festae. this question is asked almost on a daily basis or seems like it anyway.

Well young-rico from my newly acquired experience on these, I would say you also have a Urophthalmus, Mayan, or false red terror as well.

I took a road trip this weekend to one of my favorite shops and they also had Mayans labeled as red terrors. Common practice I suppose.

i've noticed a lot of places think that mayans are red terrors; like red terror is the common name for uro's and not festae or something. i've even had a couple arguments with lfs workers over this, the most they could say is 'we label it how we get it.'

I guess if the LFS suppliers (most likely unscrupulous Florida fish farms) are sending mislabeled stock, then this is what the LFS will sell them as.
It must be up to the consumer to do his due diligence and research the product before making a decision to buy. That is why we are all very fortunate to have this forum to look to for guidance; there are many knowledgeable people here to help us all out. Thanks MFK!
