Festae Price

I don't know who you're buying the fish from, nor do I care to know...

Here's the bottom line. There is a big difference between buying a fish from someone who makes a living selling fish and buying a fish from someone who wants to get rid of a fish. That should be obvious. If you want the kind of price that you would pay to someone getting rid of that very fish, then you need to wait until you find someone who wants to get rid of a quality female festae in your area. :grinno:

Raising that fish *properly* from an egg to a healthy adult is not a cheap prospect. If it were one of mine, that fish would have already eaten its way through $20 (at least) worth of krill, bloodworms, pellets etc... on its own. Then you have to pay the electric bill to heat it's tank, pump air to it or run a filter, spend time and money doing water changes etc... Any retailer is going to either pay to raise the fish or pay to buy the fish and then turn it over. Are you willing to pay the extra $20 for a quality example of the fish you really want or would you rather wait an unknown period of time until you find someone that is looking to get rid of the exact fish you are looking for? Personally, I pay extra for quality all the time. My customers have come to expect quality from me so they also don't mind paying a little extra. Buying a fish on the internet is just like buying anything else on the internet. You have more sellers to choose from but you're paying for the convenience of having it dropped at your door.

To whoever is selling this fish: You're welcome :D

I'm not sure I get what you're saying. All I'm asking is if $100 is too much for a 6 inch female festae. This does not include shipping. If shipping is going to cost $50, I would simply do a pickup, or if the person is willing to put the price of the fish down to $30, I might just pay the shipping. Also, If you look on Jeff Rapps website, it says shipping is extremely reasonable to all of NJ, VT, CT, RI, MA, DE, MD, and eastern PA and NY. Ground rates are extremely reasonable-even for larger orders. You say you are in Western PA. That might be why it was more expensive. As for the festae, I know quality plays a big part in the price of the fish, but I can't imagine that a 6" festae would be $100 dollar worth quality. I have yet to see a picture, so I could be wrong.

when i order from rapps shipping is like 20 bucks...do not get the 100 festae wait for a better price..or go through rapps

You're right, that's probably why it was more expensive for me in Western PA.

I'm going to bow out on this particular subject because I don't want to make enemies where I should have friends ;)

No worries from anyone in this post......

all good guys and trust me.....Hostillites are much, much worse than anything here, all good advice and good opinions. as you can see from Fockers response, the market is what you would pay. No more, no less.

Good Luck Bud, I hope it all works for you!

:D

I'm still going to try and buy it. I PM'd the guy with an offer of $50 and told him to look at this thread. I am still waiting for his reply. If he doesn't want to sell it to me for a reasonable price, then I'd be happy to give you his name.
