Festae Question

LOL i just didnt want you to think negatively about festae:) you already said you had the petting with a flowerhorn, so why not try festae. But i will tell you this, if your buying them small to grow out and get a pair from a group then youll need alot of patients lol as they tend to grow slow and most arnt very prolific breeders otherwise everyone would have festae and wouldnt be able to sell any fry;) but those that do manage to get a pair and they do breed.... Now that is a sight to behold my friend:) for me there has to be a challenge with things in life or i may not be interested;)

Yeah, I'm aware it's going to take awhile to grow them out and even longer to get a breeding pair (if at all). Time is not the issue here, just as long as I'm not staring at what appears to be an empty tank for most of that time :). Well, I think I'm going to give them a try. Only way I'll know for sure.

I think you should definetly try out Festaes. they are the most assertive fresh water species i've ever had. i have 10 juveniles right now and they are very interactive they jump to get the food not like oscars but similarly though, and feed from my hand, they come front to see me but not like a dovii (follow hand, bite the glass, etc.) it is a privilage to have Festae IMO. a breeding pair will slowly form not before they are 6-7", and 12 months old. here an article written about breeding and keeping festaes which i assume will steel your attention;

Just put in the order for 4 festae. They'll be in my 72 with a couple of other growouts for about a month until I set up the 110 (after we redo the carpet in the room).

Mine aren't skittish and are definitely not shy hiders all the time. Granted I can't pet them like a dog but they don't hit the glass if I try to. But they're not brave enough to attack me or have no desire to attack me like my former Midas or Dovii used to either lol. I grabbed the camera yesterday while changing the water.

Thanks Mark, you can come by any time. And yeah he can make some big poo, cant he? lol

(Oh hey, I got those springs on my car. They're working out great.)

AcsfoolMike-what do you think? They don't look overly skittish or shy, right?
