Festae update: Still need sex!.......

WC Rapps festae roughly 5.5 inches.

Id guess male because of the amount of blue spangling at 5.5 inches. My females had lost most of theirs by then and it looks like the vertical stripes are running into the dorsal, not a solid splotch.

Thats a beautiful one. I like the red stripes on its forehead & back...I have either not noticed it on others or have never seen it like that before.

Damn, lol. I keep thinking that if I post more pics, people will eventually think its female. LOL! Oh well. This guy is still pretty shy. Any idea when he'll go psyco? I've been wanting a tankbuster for a while now. Hopefully if I didn't get the Beauty I wanted, I'll atleast get the Beast!

Males Ive had all lived in community tanks until they were big (9+") and probably could have stayed longer had I not added a female. Once paired, the dynamics changed completely, especially after a spawn. Within 24 hrs of fry hatching, it was a festae only tank...in my 265. The male went ballistic.

Thanks bro. That's encouraging to hear because he's not always colored up like this. He does hide quite a bit still and it took me FOREVER to get this picture.

Sure I've had mine in a 75 for a yr. male is 12-13" and female around 9.I only put the divider in when the male gets too rough.Like was said earlier if you have a single specimen than You can keep them with others until quite large.

Thanks. Well, I just may order another batch then. It'd be a shame for me to have a nice festae and not experience their breeding patterns. Not to mention the fry.
