Hello, I dude Jeff sell festae when they are uro, then.
Festae can have Y or not.
Festae can have small point or not.
But when a festae is young, they not have lines, have only squares, see this pic.
With this is easy to recognize if they are festae or uro, in my case are uro, but not for point or Y.
Then, when they grow is dificult to recognice festae or uro male, see this pic.
I got these from Tong's Tropical fish in whittier, CA
looks like male and female, they were terrorizing the rest of the fish in the tank.
The female's dot is at the top on one side and the other side is a little borderline.
The male looks uro to me.
They have more color , the flash washes it out.
So what do I have guys, it killing me to know since they are around 1.5 to 2 inches in size, they show faint bars once in a while, but then again, they have almost 2 weeks in there with the butti..
uh, you probably should of started your own thread instead of jacking this one but they look like euros
Tonivlc, when they're smaller the easiest way to tell them apart is their "eye" sopt on the tail. As far as being harder to tell apart when they grow larger if you look at the two they look similar but the festae seems to have a broader face while the uro has mor of a pointier face, as well as the festae has blue pearls and his "eye" spot will generally go away and turn into more of just a blue circle or none at all. It may seem hard to tell them apart from photos but when you get ture festae then the difference between festae and uros becomes that much clearer
I disagree. Not too many Uro look like that one....it's much too gold in color. It's extremely easy to tell an adult male Uro from a male Festae 99.99% of the time by coloration alone. But also the body shape is different. They're instantly recognizable imo.
