I got 2 P's left out of 5... They ate eachother. But these two been togather for 3 months now no issues. Anyhow, I been feeding my p's tilapia for over a month now. They eat it just fine. But today I knoticed these little whiteish clear fiber looking things. Floating all through the water. An I first thought it was filter fiber from the pads. I changed those. It dont seem to be getting any better. Could tilapia cause these, my filters seem to be working. I just dont know whats wrong. Fish seem to be fine tho.

Picture doesnt show it to great. The fibers arnt that big neither

I did a 50 earlier an then I took this picture... Yeah it lessoned it not much its still there. I dont know if its some bacteria? or something. Though it looks like little fibers floating around. As if it was from the old fiter pads that were in there. Just appeared in past 2 days. I changed the pads. An i keep checking on it, dont see a change. As if its to light to get filtered out.

My P's are getting alot bigger. I dont want nuthing happening to them.

P's need a varied diet not just talapia. They probably ate eachother because they were tired of talipia or the tank is too small. If the fibers move, then its a parasite, if they arnt moving then its a bacteria. Either way its no good. I had hair algea when i had p's due to decaying meats. Thats horrible for water quality

I'm thinking those might be planarian too, if they wiggle then should be planarian.
it's a sign for lack of maintenance of your tank. you need to remove uneaten food as soon as they finish feeding, more frequent gravel vac and water change.
how big is your tank and what kind of filter are you using anyway?

Its 40 gal. breeder. Only 2 P's in there. An i dont think they wiggle. I dont see them move. Just more of float around. Some are curved some are straight some are bent into little circles. They are all through the water

Definitely sounds like planarian, thanks Jp for spelling.they live in your gravel, remove any uneaten food n better maintenance should take care of em.if I remember right they are harmless though.

I got sand lol. You said that they wiggle. I dont ever see them wiggleing. Just kind of floating around lol. Not moving other then with the water. I use two marineland pinquins, each rated over my tank. I forget the number. Think its 50 gal. but I got 2. Will they fade off as I dont feed as much if thats what they are? I searched those, an I have nuthing attached to my glass or objects all just floating around an nuthing near looking like a worm. Looks more like someone shaved a peach an dumped the hairs into my fishtank. If you get what i mean
