sometimes they are just free floating in the water and not moving much, tilapia flakes would look more like ... flakes... if they are hair like then probably planarian. they don't just live in gravel, could live in sand too, basically any substrate or could even be in bare bottom tank.

once you remove their food source they will eventually die off but could take a while. other things you can do is add some cheap small fish into the tank like zebra danios, neon tetras, etc. they will eat those worms, hopefully they'll be able to clean them off before your rbps wipe them out.

keeping your water clean and remove all the uneaten food will def. in the long run.
even with sand you can vacuum out all the poop and uneaten food.

Maybe the P's aren't digesting it good enough and it's their crap floating around.
Either that or it's just the tilapia;)
If they shred it up like I know P's can that would be my guess, especially if your tank is over filtered and has alot of flow.
I'd feed them pellets;)

And of course since they're in your substrate they're living in your double filters that are each rated for your tank

Oh n vaine111 you can still get them feeding pellets it doesn't matter what you feed if you overfeed or leave feed you can n probably will get them.n you both should be feeding a variety of things! Feeding only one thing isn't getting your fish what he needs, I don't care what that one thing is. Variety is the key IMO

I know what planaria is.
He stated they are not worms. Planaria is pretty easy to see that they are worms...
I'm just going by him stating that they're not.

curled, bent, n some straight. Sounds like planaria to me even if they aren't moving. Op when did they appear? After siphoning the sand? Cleaning filters? They might already be dying off.

IMO I don't think they would show up like that in a pic. Unless they all huddled together and died that way or that is something else floating on the top of the water.
Water looks cloudy too. Probably from a bacteria bloom when he cleaned everything.
Just my opinion.
But ehh... I'm going with you guys planaria it is.
And BTW they make more then 1 type of pellet.

Edit...
They may huddle like that eating off of dead ones.

I agree I doubt they would show up in pic maybe he zoomed in? I know I couldn't get something that small to show up, but then again all I have is this junk phone so Idk

i've seen planaria in video in which you can actually see them wiggling around so i don't doubt the possibility of getting them in a pic.

I doubt a P can chew talipia that fine though so i'm absolutely ruling that out. Never ever have i seen any fish fillet floating around a tank like in that pic.
