Looking good! I agree with Stan, definitely could add in some more structure to help induce spawning. Large boulders, a few flat stones for egg laying and branches should not only look good but make them feel more comfortable. If all else fails, clay pots seem to work every time.

Just to add in my 2 cents about collecting wood... I almost always use Oak. Beech works great as well, I just don't have any Beech trees in my yard! I use to strip the bark off the branches however I haven't in a while. The fish seem to really enjoy picking at it and eating it, especially once some algae grows on it. I just give them a quick rinse and in they go. Just be sure the branches aren't green still.
Thanks!

I have to see what kind of trees I have. I don’t have any in my yard, but there is a nature perseve where my property ends. Lots of trees, but I haven’t checked out what kind. If I can’t find oak or beech there, I can go other places. Thanks for the tips.

The tanks looking great, especially the pasionis.
Thanks Dan. They are becoming one of my favorite thorichthys species.

Hawthorn and apple tree branches are good too.

My robertsoni often just kind of hang out grouped up in the center of the tank as well. My pasionis tend to be on the hunt for food most of the day though.

How much flow do you have in the tank? I have noticed the more flow I have the more active the fish tend to be.

Just the from the fluval xf5. I had air strip on the one side, but the fish seemed afraid of it. They would never go to that side. Maybe it was too noisy? Anyway I moved it they now go to that side.
I read most thorichthys are found (especially pasionis, meeki and helleri) are found in water with little flow or none. Was thinking I probably should keep it to a minimum.

You are correct. Although I'm sure there are exceptions. For example, the paper I referenced in regards to my biotope, both pasionis and meeki are found in the rivers running into Lachua Lake. However, I suppose they could very well be seeking out calmer backwaters...

Do you ever get cross breeding in this tank?
Nope. I have found keeping multiple of the same species avoids that from happening. I had 3 HRP pairs, meeki pair off (no success) and I might have 2 pasionis pairs if I make some changes to the tank.
