Don't feed him for a week.. When push comes to shove, you gotta show it who's boss.

A week is harsh and can have a big different result in your fish potential. 2-3 days max with temperature bumped up to 83-86 degrees.

True enough, but the OP only gave it 48 hrs. :)

I'm with Big One, IMO starving juvenile fish is never a great idea, certainly not for an entire week, which is why I always recommend pre-soaking the pellet food in something that is known to usually trigger a feed response, such as the smell of bloodworms. Even if the fish only picks at the pellets, he'll be getting some nutrition & most FH will eventually come around using this method.

Of course I'm assuming that this fish is still a juvenile.

It seems to me all my fh's have gone through this "picky stage". All of mine have come around to pellets. I have a little fade that recently refused to eat pellets, so I've been feeding flakes. I'll try the pellets again soon though. Nothing serious as long as it is eating.

If soaking and everything doesn't work, starve it...definitely not a week of starving here. Very crucial to your FH potential, especially at that stage.
