So, instead of building a pond in our living room we thought we might go with a pair of the 525 gallon fiberglass tanks here, back to back, plumbed together:

Until we buy a home and can rip our yard/basement/guest rooms apart, we thought this would be a nice place to start.

How many adult rays could be housed in these with good filtration?

What do you think? Any suggestions for filtration (I'm' thinking bead filter?), plumbing, etc?

(If you know of a place that sells larger ray footprint friendly fiberglass tanks with viewing windows, or just cheaper ones, let me know!)

This is good idea, they sell filter sumps for these rays with compartment built in and ready for bio and mechanical filtration I would go with these tanks for sure.

That is really good to know. I'll be on the lookout for those, thanks!

Do you think, for a pair of those tanks, that it would be better to use those sumps by themselves for rays, or would it need something else as well?

Sorry to ask you so many questions, lol, but I've seen your rays so you're stuck! How many adult motoro/leo/pearl sized rays could be housed happily in each?

Fibreglass works well, I use those overhead filters (sump) and they work wonders. Can fit in pretty sufficient filter media.

Can you please drop me a link for those? I'm rather new to aquarium plumbing (as I've set up a drip system so far and little else, and have never used a wet/dry or a sump proper), so the help would be very appreciated.

Is it one of these?

Mike mentioned that it was made for these tanks. I can't find it, lol. :nilly:

Someone got rays on the brain? HAHA :ROFL::ROFL:

FFB523 is the product number. Its an accesory for FT523. Its a submerged style sump that sits in the windowed tub you're looking at.

Oh! It sits INSIDE! That's bad-ass. Thank you very much. That's exactly what we're looking for. We'll order that now.

Any ideas for a pump? :)
