Fiberglass Tanks for Rays

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Find out flow ratings on it. Submersable ide say a pondmaster hydrive. If your gonna knock o hole in it a reeflo hammerhead would rock or a reeflo dart would work. Ampmaster dolphin would be ok too.

You're takin all the fun out of building your own custom pond though... Lol

Don't know how well you're gonna get mechanical filtration to work in that thing. Would use other means for mech and just use that thing or 2 of them for bio only.

Just curious how much is shipping on something like this?

I will build my own custom pond. Several, actually. Ashley and I are currently looking for a house so that we can rip out the basement and the bedrooms and put in cinder block/concrete/wood/plastic ponds. The issue with having a 1200+ gallon pond in our house is that we are renting. The lease states no limit on the amount or size of the tanks, but the lease (along with county building code) prevents us from putting in a pond proper. Some how pond = structure, but tank = decoration. I don't understand it completely either, but until next October when we move out we are going to have to just go with 2 of these (for starters at least,).

I'm in the same boat (renting).

I have a landscaping brick pond with a liner now but will be going to a wood one with a liner. Hell of a lot cheaper to build then one of those bins.

Mike said that the bins work for mech too, but we will have another fluval FX5 lying around (as soon as the sick motoros get better).

Shipping is $151.00 for all 4 items (2 sumps, 2 tanks w/ viewing windows) for ground motor freight:headbang2. I've paid more shipping than that for bags of gravel. :D

We've got the wood, silicone, 30 lbs of deck screws, liquid nails and a pond liner that would easily fit a 1500 gallon pond, but we are rethinking how to build it now. I think it would make our landlord nervous to see it, lol, so I want to get it done right and pretty so there are no complaints from the management- not to mention that I want to keep my beautiful lady happy. :)

Does anyone know a ray stocking formula, or could make a rough estimate of how many full grown leo/motoro sized rays could live comfortably in one of these tanks? The dimensions are 96" x 48" x 30".

Wow. Had no idea shipping would be that cheap......LOL

Well it sounds like you're off to a hell of a start. Most people don't just up and decide to drop (or even have) that kinda money on rays within the first few months.

I'm jealous.....LOL Took me all year to save up enough money for a couple of Marbles.......LOL

I've seen similar dimension Fibreglass Tanks in my country holding 3 rays.. And there didn't seem to be much room left. :WHOA:

1x Motoro , 1x Castexi, 1x LeoPearl all around 14 to 15 inches..

Another guy bred his Leos in a slightly bigger tank, 6 adults to 1 tank, around 10ft by 5ft by 3ft.
