Figure 8 Puffer Question

My figure 8 puffer is about 1.5 inches long. In the week I've had him, i ve never seen him eat a snail I placed a bunch of little pond snails in the tank, but it turns out a good amount were just shells. So, I haven't seen any snails in the tank, so I may be mistaken. I've seen him try and bite my mystery snails a few times too. I feed about 1 or 2 crickets every day, and he seems to have a somewhat hard time eating the head, mostly because its kinda hard. So I was wondering if he could live off of crickets, since they're hard and theoretically would keep his teeth grinded down? Thanks

Crickets are fine. Just make sure to mix up the diet. I fed all my puffers shrimp worms snails and clams on a half shell

Okay, thanks. He'll definitely be fed some other stuff too, probably shrimp and bloodworms. There will probably be pond snails breeding in the tank for him to eat, too.
