Fill me in on the pike cichlid

i know fish change color when they are stressed. I just wanted to mention this guy has a lot of different colors
 
either way he is definitely a lugubris speices so he will get around 14"

Ohhh no no, he wasnt taking crap from her. I was afraid he was going to bite her head off, lol. I just felt bad for him because the instant he was put in the tank the parrot fish was giving him crap. I should take the eggcrate out and let them settle there differences. Im sure when the BP realizeds that the pike cichlid isnt messing around shell stop. shes just a little territorial sometimes, lol

yeap thats a venezuelan alright
good looking one too! mine is wash out and has lost all spangling and the horizontal stripe
 
Well thanks voss for the info and help!!!! i did some researching on these guys. Basically read something that says if you can keep em through there aggresive teenage years they end up being really beautiful.... and big, lol.

any heads up with these guys or favorite foods?
 
personally i feed Hikari large pellets every day with a mix of carnivore and massivore pellets, every few days i feed frozen krill and silversides, sometimes freeze dried but that stuffs real expensive
 
Yea anything freeze dried is insanely expensive, lol. Other then that i have almost all that in stock. How about shrimp? do they care for em?
 
frozen? yea krill is just min shrimp basically, sometimes i feed cut up catfish filets as well
