fill my filter

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
so what's the standard micron for felt filter socks? ive been looking on mc master carr but need to narrow it down. I'm sure if I get the 1 micron it'll fill up to fast

Don’t think there’s a standard but socks seem to run 50-100-200micron. These are the most common I’ve seen.

Should work. Would do the 100micron for a happy medium.
that's what I'm thinking.
now to figure out my pump. that pump sizing thread hurt my head with all that info! and I'm rethinking my 1" drain, up sizing to a 1.5". so many variables as I already have the 1" stuff.

1.5 would be better. That way you can get more flow if needed. As for pumps get an adjustable and all should be good.
What kind of overflow are you looking at?

Get one of the jebao pumps you wont regret it

100 microns may clog up too fast. But either way 50 is definitely not a good idea. You may be changing them out every other day
Im at 200 micron and ok with it.

Are you doing full siphon on the drains ?

Before you decide on a drain size tell us more about the over flow and how your plumbing us set up. Is there an emergency drain ? Is the return coming up through the overflow or out and over and back into the tank.

Through the skimmer box 2 1.5" bulkheads into a bean animal overflow full siphon 1" thin wall PVC. Had this setup before on a different 240. I just increased the size of the box the b.a.o is in so I could use a 1.5" in the future. 20181231_155943.jpg 20181216_171932.jpg
