How big is your red tail catfish? Even if it will just be in there with it for a little while if your redtail is a foot or so it will IMO eat a 5-6 inch jardini. Or it will at least try to.

My red tailed catfish is 15-16 inches but as it said will most likely go in my pond I do have a 60 gallon and several other tanks set up if needed for the jar to grow out in

Either grow it out on its own but then tour running the risk of a no tankmate future , or sick something in that won't chomp on the jar to get him used to fish (as ive done with the tinfoil barbs)
It might be worth you having a read through my jardini posts and ill post you some pics off my album on here later if I get chance to get to a comp
When you thinking about ordering one ?

Not too sure I'm having second thoughts on the jar because I've read many posts about them and their aggression. In my case another silver would be ideal but I don't want to feel as if I'm replacing the one that I had for a long time. I just don't know :/ decisions decisions ...

Get a silver but get one with more purpleish scales or even a high shine so it looks different and you are not replacing it!

Blacks are quite nice for a change less chance of drop eye also but will cost you , whatever aro you end up with will probably turn out to be a lot different to your last , at Least personality wise anyway
