Film on top of water?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
There was a thread about this before...an the conclusion was, that there is no conclusion. Since you're a newbie I'll help ya.

Get a TOM Surface Skimmer. $10.99 at Amazon. It will suck the surface stuff into your filtration system (canister, hob). Only thing I don't care for is that I have to turn my canister off during feeding else it sucks up the floating food (especially flakes). You don't realize how much crap is floating on the surface until you have one of these.

But its not just that...I have never had a Skimmer and no problem...

This is obviously a problem...Do some WC, and add salt man...every other thread is a disease/instability thread, Damn dude my Fader female succumbed to bacteria too today. WTF man

There are protein remover chemicals you can use to help remove it although not sure if you want to go that route... other option is just to cut back a little on feeding, since at least in my case, it happens a lot after feeding my puffer stuff like mussels which can make the tank a little dirty...

Whats the total turnover rate for your filtration?
