Got a 100 Uk Gal' tank ( 4x2x2Foot ) and need a filter for it .

Could be getting a Turtle off my Anuties Ex' ( not sure what type of Turtle yet , i have not seen it yet , i got a call off him a couple days back asking if i could take it off his hands as it needs a bigger tank and he hasn't got the room for one so he wants me to have it ) .

Not a 100% sure if i will get it ( i just said ill think about it and come and have a look at it ) , i am not sure what type it is and how big ( i should of asked but i didnt , going to see it in a couple of days tho so i find out all that then ) .

I need a new filter for the tank that the Turtle will be going in , as the current on that i was using on the tank has decided to stop working , i have had it all apart and cleaned it all out but its not working .

Please suggest some that i can have a look at , please .

I would rather have an exturnal one and dont really want to pay loads for one ( cheaper the better ) . Please help .

800-1200gph imo. I dont know of any filter that can do that. I would just get a quiet one 6000 and a ocean clear canister and hook it up.

I've never kept a turtle, but do you have to worry about ammonia and nitrite?

I know you prefer external but I'll suggest these anyway. I am sure you can get something similar there.

At my LFS they have these in all the Turtle tanks, I have one (600) in the bottom of a sump to move water and it does it well. I have a single scrubbie stuffed into the compartment where the carbon came - to give you an idea of size. It's not much, but between that and the sponge it does work. Especially considering price. I would stick one in each end and call it done. Since a turtle tank will only be half full the turnover would be good.

I would assume so ya, specially of those aquatic turtles who swallow water while eating.

I got a baby snapper and am currently finishing up cycling the tank.

Turtles are turd kings, IMO would use something way better than a internal filter. I myself will be throwing on a magnum 250 once I stop being lazy and get it seeded from the fish tank.

after 3 years of no filter on my friends sons turtle tank i finally set him up with a powerhead and a sponge... it works great... not saying that this is the best idea.. but it works well.. all the poo and halfeaten fish get stuck to the sponge.. once a month he pulls it out and shakes it off while doing a water change... he says the water smells a lot better and the turtle is a lot happier....

My neighbor has about 10 turtles split up in 5 tanks and he always uses the largest whisper filters he gets them at walmart for 20 bucks. no idea im no turtle man but hey thats what he does.

Thanks for all yur input , and links .

I was thinking on getting a FX5 , then thought it will be a waste of money ( good filter but for the amount of water it will have to filter its a waste of money and i could just get a smaller and cheaper filter which would do just as good ) .

So i have been looking at these Exturnal and H'O'B' filters , - Any good ?

And if anyone else can suggest a filter for me , please do . But please not a TetraTec Filter ( i have had 2 in the past and both have stopped working and had to get cleaned out once sometimes twice a week , so i do not want to go back to them anymore ) .
