Glad to hear the Ray is ok

If the tank is mature then I would not add cycle as you shouldnt need it. The cloudy water could also be bacterial bloom from the cycle.

For Sky: Personally I would not use HOB as a main filter for rays as they just seem way too small to get decent filter area for the bacteria to live on, plus they do not seem to be able to handle large amounts of waste.

Good quality water changes (check the tap water parameters too - including Nitrite) cover up a lot of filter weaknesses but I personally would try to pick up some external cannisters (even if 2nd hand) and clean them out of sync...i.e. 1 every other month say which means that each filter is mature at different times and only wash out using tank water

yeah toby the tank is mature; bacterial bloom sounds like that's what it can be...idk if its true or not (will know when I get home- but as mentioned before, I added a mature fx5 to the 150 gal this morning after the slight cloudyness while keeping its original filtration system) I just talked to my gf who just checked on the tank, and she said the slight cloudyness is gone...again, def. gonna wait till i get home to confirm, but I'm thinking maybe the fx5 helped with it...
what do you think?

I think that you can now relax and keep it simple, moderate the feeding, keep testing the water and keep up the water changes.

As long as you keep an eye on the basics of PH, Ammonia, Nitrite and then Nitrate it should take care of itself.

I think the FX5 that is mature is your best friend right now!
