Here's another vote for the AquaClear! They last forever. I would also advocate running a powerhead with a sponge filter near the top of the tank for maxium aggitation to the surface. The only fault of the AC110 is in my opinion is that it doesn't provide enough surface aggitation for oxygen exchange for moderately stocked tanks.

I'd go with a sump tbh can be the best filtration if set up correctly

Any of the Renas xp series would work well in your situation, but I wouldnt recommend the xp4. Impeller is junk. I have 2 xp3's that have been running flawlessly for over 4 year.

I second this for canisters besides the mega eheims I love xp3s, they are nice powerhouses and lots of media storage, pretty efficient as well, and cleaning is super easy.
