Filter socks with ray filtration...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Right, as far as cleaning my sump, I haven't had to that yet. I checked the sump out and it's pretty clean. No waste or anything, so I know my socks are doing their job. And these new socks from mc aster are the ticket! Loving my setup even more now. Now I'm thinking about a bioreactor with my sump

I think I will try some Jap mat as I have heard some good reports. I have 3 grades of pond filter in my sump so I can change one at a time.

Ordered and recieved 4 of the 200/100 socks that DB recommended. Very good quality would recommend them to anyone using filter socks for sure. Much better than the junk they sell in LFS.

I use I think blue life ? (newer company very plain packaging doesn't say anything other than filter sock) but they are a bit longer than others I've tried, and a little different cut on them instead of a rounded seam they are like diamond shaped. I use 2 of them i think they are 200 micron, but I used to change socks every other day, these last a week n they were kinda cheap.

How do you all attach the filter socks to your drain lines?

Filter socks clog fast, you can stack them to get best water quality/life out of them do a 200 to pull big chunks and then a 100 or 50 or whatever works for you.

My sump has 8 holsters for socks:

Mine just sit in PVC holders. Just made a square with legs basically.... If hung them things are gonna be heavy when they overflow.

My sump has a section with glass flats that support the upper ring, a bit like the holsters above, allow for some overflow as they certainly will as they block. Mine sometimes drop off the holders under weight but do not seem to lose their contents. Mine smell like old, wet, smelly dogs if you take the, out and leave them to dry....nice!
