Filteration for 600 gallon

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
For mechanical filtration filter socks are a whole lot easier to deal with than tearing apart and cleaning canisters. It also eliminates having that waste sitting in your system for an extended period of time.

I would have to use the filter socks after the outtakes of the filters. ....which means the filters will be doing the work so they would be pretty pointless in my system

Your in a similar situation I was in, I have 3 fx5s I was going to run on my 320 but was talked into a sump, then decided to use the spare room behind as a filter room. If you have the space I would run a 3 55 gallon drum system like me. Im selling all my canisters and got 3 55 blue drums for free, I have 3 matala pads in chamber 1 for mech. filtration, then 3" pipe into 4 cubic feet of K1 with a ap60, then drum 3 is wastewater dumping my drip system to my drain with heaters and return pumps. Pretty close to matience free and if you sell your canisters you would probably wind up ahead on money if you dont take in account the K1 you were going to use

Your must of not read easier posts but I'm doing both

If I decided to go with just the sump does anyone know what pump or pumps would be best for my size tank?

I'm really liking my Jebao Dct12000, you could probably get away with 2 of those or 2 of the 15000. I've used Mag Drives and Quiet Ones and these Dct pumps are super quiet and seem to have helped my electric bill.

Thanks I'll look into them....I'm basically looking for a solid pump or 2 pumps that will last and aren't extremely expensive not to mention low wattage

I wasn't real clear with what I was saying. I was suggesting not using the canisters. Buying a pump will be more money up front, but I think you'll be much happier with your system in the long run.

I'd definitely look into the different DC pumps. Cannot speak on longevity at this point, but my DCT 6000 was affordable and very low wattage for the size pump it is.

Jebao may not last long, but I am satisfied with my dc 12000 so far.

Filter socks are the way to go. No canisters.
