Guys, i was wondering if any of you have experience with media which is made to remove nitrates from the system. Seachem purigen has been discussed many times but im looking for other media. Anybody any exp with JBL Nitratex or Seachem de*nitrate or Dennerle Nitratstop Supra? other products??

There are many products out there, Denitrate works well. Personally, my recommendation is plants. Nothing beats them for nitrate removal.

I don't put stock in any of those products that say they remove nitrates. Lots of water changes and lots of plants is the only thing I trust.

im the same, im not sure i trust these things.

Are these products ion exchangers or a type of filter media? And if they are the latter do you have to have an anaerobic environment for them to work?

use a nitrate reactor :D

the media im talking about is some sort of gellike pellet which absorbs nitrates without adding anything to the water. I can easily be put in a cannister or sump. Absorbs huge amounts of nitrate and can easily be cleaned with water and salt. ive ordered 2 liters today to see if it works. would be really nice!

This sounds interesting, since I think JBL is from Taiwan. Would you mind posting results after you've been using it for some time?

Thanks in advance!
