i own both a 2080 and a 2260 and i must say both work perfect for me... I must add that my tanks are smaller. The 2080 is on a 110 and the 2260 on a 150. As said before, i have filter floss in both. In the 2080 about 1/3 of the upper basket and in the 2260 about 2-3cm. I do have optimal clarity, even when cleaning the filters only once every 4-5 months. Usually i dont even clean the pre-filter in between as its not really neccesary.
I do have some other cannisters on the tank with the 2080 and also some internal filters. those pick up a lot of debris so maybe thats the key?

heej stiffmeister, don't you think that you have to much filters on you'r tanks. i don't know how you calculated everything (maybe you can show), but do you like to waste energy? the tricklingfilter and biofilter should be enough..

Actually the Eheim line uses much less energy than many other filters. The 2080 only uses 27 watts, while the new fluval 405 uses 25 watts.
