I was looking for a good canister filter for my standard 125. I plan to stock it with about 4 Bay Snook Cichlids (Petenia splendida) Any suggestions?

Haha, yep. It's a very good filter. If you're looking for something cheaper or smaller then try the fx5. Or wait for black friday and go to pet stock the fx6.

The FX line of filters are great in my mind. They have a brain so you don't have to prime it like other filters. Just the intial full of the can, but after that no priming, it does it all. Every 12 hours it purges any air in the system automatically. If you buy a new one it comes with a certificate to get a gravel vac system that uses the FX' s pump to do the cleaning. You can also use the FX to do the tank draining.

I have an FX4 and two AC110'S on my 125's.

A beautiful review of the fx6 Jexnell, I'm wanting one for my 75.

I have a 4 same thing as 6 just a smidge smaller. 700gph instead of 900, and 2 levels of trays not 3. And about $120 cheaper. But it too can do the fancy stuff with the gravel vac, and draining.

Yep, the help with the water changes would be nice. Make it go faster. I believe the ability to help with water changes would bump this filter above most filters for your need op.

After the first month when I opened the can it was still spotless basically. Three months later I opened it again, same thing nearly spotless. Tho I think the AC110'S are doing the brunt of the mech filtration having to clean thier sponges every two weeks.

Man, my cascade 1,000's all get dirty so fast. I'm planning on getting more canisters of different types to see which one is the best type for me once I get my new tanks set up
