Filtration for 125?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yup I would recommend a 2217 for a 125 gallon. Only annoying thing at all about them is to prime them, you have to suck the intake and then quickly attach to filter. WHeras the sunsun you have a built in pump. But the eheims are the most reliable piece of aquarium equipment I have ever owned. Longest lasting by far. I used to have an fx5, I liked that too. But I'd recommend the eheim over it.

Might have to get one, is there any way to bypass the priming thing, do they make attachments to self prime it or is it the only way

Only way that I know of, but eheim does make other filter lines now, I think they have a "pro" line which self primes. When I bought mine the classics were the only/most popular ones. I trust eheim as a brand though, I think all their filters will be as good quality.

Okay will do some research thanks

Is it the extra work of priming that is not liked by yall or is it something else?

My old roommate had a SunSun that leaked on him and destroyed the particle board stand the tank was on. You really have to make sure the trays are in right and the such with these filter, was just a couple grains of sand that caused the leak, and destruction of the stand.

It's worth it to spend a little more upfront so that you don't have to replace it or worse replace the floor if the thank falls because the stand got destroyed through water damage.

I would go with the FX6 i run 2 on a 125 for 2 years and not 1 problem also with the FX6 you can buy replacement parts and its easy even to replace the brain pump motor and its a solid heavy durable plastic
