the alge is not a problem the water is clear just not clear like I see pics of peoples tanks on here not pristine clear,

yes i was just referring to my problem as an example of my water change habits.

i would never change it that often for a normal tank, but if my water gets cloudy i wont hesitate to do lots of water changes.

it really sounds like to me, that you dont have enough filtration.

One good question: What media are you running in your XP3? Are you using the micro polishing pads? Although I think you need more filtration as well, I am curious as to how much debris we are talking about and what actual media you have.

I want to know how the majority of people's tanks i see on here are so clear and how the water stays that way?

I have a 155g rena x3 & had a mag 330 on there and even still it does not look pristine like the majority of tanks I see on here, am I doing something wrong?sometimes I wonder if it's my background or the tint on the tank? I dont know but I would like some info / suggestions?

also is it worth having a under gravel filter on tanks this size? some say yes some say theres no point,
Try adding an AC110 Or an FX5
Noticed your name is WS6 and you got one on your avatar. I got a 99 WS6 6 speed great car!

yes, please let us know what media you're using and the ammonia, etc. levels

guess i'll talk about your car, too, lol. I am on LS1, but don't go on there very much and never venture outside the Rocky Mountain forum. I don't have an LS1, but since COFB went pretty much dead....
I just have an 86 something-or-other :D

The tank is too small for that many fish once they are full grown. When the male jag hits 10 or 12 inches or pairs up with that female all hell will break loose. Jags are fanatic parents they will destroy your other inhabitants.

I am aware of the size they will grow to I am awaiting another 155 g
I was surprised that they now do not take a more dominate role The GT's are the most dominate in the tank and they are certainly not the biggest

I dont know how to explain it just not pristine looking sometimes i think its maybe my background because the background is grey??? the tank has been set up since june didnt get fish in it till the mid of july, it had sand but I took that crap out, I put ammonia chips in the filter everytime I clean that out so the ammonia I don't have a pro with and the nitrates and ph is fine
I will do another test when I get off work and try to take a pic

thanks

i have the same problem with my 100 gal with the stock below in my sig... the thing that helped me the most is changing out my polishing pads or quilt batting every three days... helped alot. but the water isnt crystal clear but has improved :D
