is the eheim effeciant enough by its self.bump

How big is the O? Which Eheim? Bigger is obviously better, but I'd say no (with your impending bioload), A single Eheim is not enough.

I suggested a 2217 + AC70, but if the O is already 5"+, go for an AC110 instead. Add a powerhead near the bottom to keep all the crap moving towards the filter intakes while you're at it.

i dont have the oscar, datnoid yet. im going to get one soon though. got to find the right size one. i have the arow which is about 7-8 inches, a pbass that is about 5-6 inches and the rtc at 5-6 inches(hard to measure them when they r swimming everywhere and dont want to take them out b/c im worried about strees and injury)the eheim classic rated for 66-93 gallons is what im thinking about to use. im on a budget so anything under $200 b/c im not paying for it its my parents so i dont want to go all out expensive. also im looking for a canister b/c they r quiter and my parents complain about the noise of all the power filters i have already.bump

unlike my aquaclears my emperor400's are very quiet. I can tell when my water level is alittle low just by sound. As long as you keep the tank full they are silent.

Emperor 400s are really awesome. I have 1 Emperor 400 on my 55g and a Penguin 200. I am thinking of upgrading the 200 to another 400 and then a canister filter on top of that. I would definately recommend the Emperor 400, however way you do it.

Additionally, they are inexpensive. If you're looking for canister filters cheap, check out ebay. There's some insane deals on good canister filters there on occasion.
