Thanks. So now do yuo still think it is a bad thing to have my BIO-Wheel like that? My LFS says that I have the best water they have ever tested from a goldfish tank. Ammonia is zero, Nitrites (I hope I don't have Nitites and Nitrates mixed up) is zero, and Nitrates are 5ppm. I do weekly to bi weekly water changes and only clean my filter if the BIO Wheel stops and replacing the cartridge doesn't restore BIO Wheel rotation.

I stand by my statement " But if it works for him and the fish are healthy  go for it :headbang2 " .

Have you tried super glue or plumbers goop to fix the impeller? I've had good success with them, just let it cure fully.

I already got the parts for my Whisper, so I am going to try DIY bio wheel add on to the Whisper. Oh, and I was mistaken. It is a Whisper 2.

I will try that if I can't get it to work.

2 choices in my mind...
completely swap out one and replace with new, leaving all the old one in for 2-3weeks..
well thats probabbly the only one come to think of it, cause the penguins and emps even though same manufacturor, same product aside from slightly higher flow rate allowing for maybe 5gal more on the emps and different cartridges. otherwise you could swap the unit, and just swap carts/sides 1 at a time at a rate about about 1 every 1-2weeks...
imo
