Final stocking

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The Jewel is beautiful and it should be fine with your stock. Everybody in there can defend themselves. But you do need a centerpiece fish. I would get a Nic, keep the jewel, the firemouth, get 6 Columbian tetras, a few virus, and ditch the convict.

Lol that is supposed to be corys and not virus. Darn auto correct!!!

@ badassmc- Thanks, it is one colorful fish.
@ fishman- The jewel seems like the most passive one. The firemouth chases the convict around once in a while and the tetras nip at each other but thats about it.

Thanks! My lfs had a small Nic for 15$ but someone had reserved it. They said they dont know when the next shipment will come in so im still open to centerpeice ideas. I like corries but im afraid they wont last long with my senegal bichir.

I still think you could do alot worse than a nice Jack Dempsey. What's not to like about this ?

Have you considered a Salvini ? Maybe go to someone like Rapps and get something nice to make the centre piece.

I think so too. That jack is amazing, my uncle has 2 females and they have colored up beautiful. I actually asked a couple lfs about salvinis and they dont ever get them cause they are to agressive.

Well while at the lfs today i gave in and got a female dempsey. She was the only one left in the tank and was going for 5$ so i decided to get her. She is in the tank now with the lights off so ill throw some pics up in a few once she is settled in.

well here are some pics of the dempsey. For some reason, she is gold on her body instead of the usual dark ive seen. Is this stress or cause i have a light colored substrate? I personally like it but am curious to know why...Hope you enjoy the picsdempsey1.jpgdempsey2.jpgdempsey3.jpg
