Final Tankmate for Oscar & Jaguar Cichlid

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I thought about a Bichir but thought that they might be too aggressive for the Lima Shovelnose Catfish.
Am I wrong? I have always found the Bichirs very fascinating.

Thanks for the suggestion.

As an aside, is the LSN really a bottom feeder? I don't see it cleaning up the mess other fish leave really. You'd be better off getting a syno or loaches or something like that to clean up mess.

You're right the lima is more a predator that hangs out at the bottom. I will probably move my 13 inch common pleco from my 246 gallon to this tank
Or i might get some clown loaches eventually.

Common pleco will just make more mess at that size. Get loaches or synos

red hooks or regular SD will look good, your lemon barb idea was good too.don't see them often.another bigger barb with great color is filament barbs.not always available.t-barbs get big too!

Thanks to all who have responded with ideas. Thanks also for suggesting the Filament Barb, I had forgotten how nice they color up once mature (just don't see them much at LFS) plus they will not take up near as much room or bio-load as a Tin Foil or Lemon Fin Barb.

After much thought, I placed an order tonight for 1 Bay Snook and 6 Filament Barbs.

Thanks again!

I don't get it, the tank is only 2 feet long, so howcome people aren't complaining about how cramped arowanas, pbass and giant gourami's would be? my tank is 3ft wide and I was told I couldn't keep either of those fish.

on the plus side Filament barbs look absolutely beautiful when mature. and the snook is an awesome addition to the tank.
