Ban all bare bottom and weird community tanks !!!!
Looks as if your auranti produced a nice batch of hatchlings. Think it should be no problem to raise them, the tricky parts of the breeding is over whne dad releases the fry.

looking forward to seeing them grow up Thanks both of you , and i agree 100% on banning bare tanks and weird mixes ! I like to see tanks that minic a natural habitat as much as possible !
I also think the fry will do well and there are hundreds of them ! They are excellent parents the father is very dliligent in keeping them from straying too far from the group or if they swim to deep. Hes constantly gathering them up in his mouth and returning them to the group.
I also found it interesting that they don't spit out fry like a cichlid instead the fry come swarming out the gills which is very neat to watch, especially when he has collected up a few hundred in his mouth and releases them all at one time!

Still no picture updates , but all is well they are growing nicely and quite active now . Up to about 1/2" with fat little bellies . They now look like little snakeheads with distinct heads, fins and tails. Colors are comming in black with gold stripes down the side.
Even at this size they are predatory , ill often see them grabbing baby snails that are as big as there heads!
