Finally GATF

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Only one side is facing outwards. The other side is facing a wall. It wouldn't have mattered since he did it at night when it was all dark. Maybe when somebody turned on a light it spooked him.

Giant danios are a good dither. They'll be teacher fish and some day become food when the ATF gets big enough. :D

thanks again guys... I know they can be a tough fish to keep so all help and advice is VERY welcome(: My cousin volunteered his 2 giant danios to help also. This is good because I know they are very healthy. I'm interested to see what will happen his first night in the tank.

Maybe you could ad some gambusia, guppies or just small zebra danios, that way he has something to chase/hunt and make him less skittish/shy.
However don't know if this will cause him to be weaned onto live food. Just make sure the danios don't eat all the worms and leave him empty handed

I wouldn't put guppies or rosy's in there. He's already weaned off of live so doing that will regress him. It's like giving crack to an ex addict....

hahah so true. I just got my first GATF about 2 weeks ago, hes completely solid and not skittish whatsoever. I dont know why but he is very content with the 2 plecos in his grow tank. he ate live rosies the first day i brought him home and always eats as soon as they hit the water. The only time he seems skittish is when I put my hand in the tank to adjust anything. Any other good tank mates other than danios and other little guys that could get him ready for introduction into the beast tank?? Goin in with a very large tat and gars.

I really dont mind so much if they end up being food for him lol..... But yeah I wont put the rosies in then. I'll just have him w/ the danios and keep feeding those blood worms! I'll be sure to keep you guys posted on how hes doing. I wanted to ask if anyone knew what the growth rate at this small size is?

Might want to try other meaty food or even if you can dry foods.

As for growth rate, not to sure, never kept one, but somewhere like .5" per month? If in great conditions (water changes/good diet) maybe faster than that.
