From my experince with mossy frogs they do spend a decent amount of time in the water so i would not reccommend mixing them with a turtle.

x2. I think almost any type of frog will fall prey to most species of water turtles.

great set up, you really did an awesome job

forgot to mention that the pea gravel in there can kill your mat mata if he ingests it (which it prone to happen with the way they suck their food in) and also, I have had a mata break the same style thermometer you have and leave glass scattered through the tank (not fun). you just want to be careful and maybe change the gravel to sand.

That came out stunning. Why not switch to sand like they have in their natural habitat .

You should send that enclosure pic to Reptile mag.

I'm switching to sand tonight I was going back and forth between sand and gravel for a while and I went with gravel reluctantly cause I knew the sand would clog the siphon drain pipe I installed but I ended up not connecting that anyway cause it had a leak. Also I'll put up the build pictures

I did put sand in that night heres a picture

Now its been a while and I've done some miner cleaning and water changes but my question is

Does any one know how to clean sand???? a regular siphon would just suck it up right?

also the mata mata seems very healthy. he's growing and very feisty and eats great but... he sheads more then what I assume is normal and the bottom of his shell is peeling. underneth the peel it looks totaly normal and I've read that the shell is saposed to peal but I thought I would get some other opinions cause it's a little unnerving. the top of his shell is solid and not pealing.

Also I never put any frogs in there I came to my senses and excepted that it was a bad idea

i wish i was as adventurous as you in regards to set ups. my tank only consists of water and a filter intake.
