Now its been a while and I've done some miner cleaning and water changes but my question is
Does any one know how to clean sand???? a regular siphon would just suck it up right?
also the mata mata seems very healthy. he's growing and very feisty and eats great but... he sheads more then what I assume is normal and the bottom of his shell is peeling. underneth the peel it looks totaly normal and I've read that the shell is saposed to peal but I thought I would get some other opinions cause it's a little unnerving. the top of his shell is solid and not pealing.
Also I never put any frogs in there I came to my senses and excepted that it was a bad idea
dont worry about it, Mine sheds a lot too and even though they do not shed often, it takes a long time for them to shed. Mine has been at it for at least 6 months. Just be patient. Also, the best way to clean sand is to hold the vacuum about a 1/2 inch above it and it will suck up the sand.
the tank looks great now, I am glad that you are enjoying your mata.
