Yeah, they're by themselves in a 40 breeder...probably going to stay in there until they grow a little and can go in the 300. Thanks! I'm just using some prazipro and a little melafix...they seem really healthy.

Whats your water change schedule? 50% every 2-3days?

What are you feeding to beef them up? Diced worms?

Thanks

they've eaten diced up worms and ghost shrimp. They didn't eat market shrimp or bloodworms the first time I offered them, but they ate both tonight.

I don't really have a schedule, I just try to change at least like 10 gallons every other day.

I'll try in a bit. there's actually something I'm concerned about that a picture would help demonstrate. The female has what looks sort of like someone took a small hole punch and punched out two semi-circles on the edges of its disc (pectoral fins). What could cause that and should I worry?

last pic shows the "fin clip"

sry for the bad pix...not much to show since the first pix.

IDK how much they should eat at this size, really, but it doesn't seem like they eat much.

Hard to see the marks you asked about in the last picture. Doesn't look like there are any tank mates so you can rule out some other fish bitting her.

You should cut their food into much smaller pieces too. They won't be able to chew those pieces of shrimp.

Sweet

hard to see as they move a lot.
Try to get a close up of the disc.

Also, the heater raises a red flag for me. I would put a protector around it or atleast have it hang from the top like how a air hose hangs in mid water out of no where (less chance of heater burn in mid water than on the wall where they will likely roam)
just my 2 cents

Mark on disc appears to be a bite mark from the other ray. It will heal in a 2-3 weeks,
no worry. Just keep water clean.
As for as the heater, you can also just put extra mounts to decrease the spacing in between
them so the rays can't get stuck or rest behind the heater thus getting heater burn.

if you enlarge the picture, it looks pretty clear to me...the pictures that come up are too small.

yeah, i figured that out, lol. Even after i took them out and broke them up even more once, they were too big. thanks.

I was under the impression that the plastic heaters were safe from heater burn

I use the stealths also and haven't had any issues. Some people say they
still get hot enough to cause heater burns. That is why I add extra mounts
so they can't get behind/underneath. Better safe than sorry.
