Finally!!! I FOUND EGGS!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
^ Thanks very much! That give me some hope :)

I was totally baffled this morning, eggs looked hatched, but couldn't find the wigglers.
Lets hope this will be like your bfs. :)

keep looking ...hope they are good...

^ thanks :)

I'll be on the hunt tonight, also will probably put the divider up now so there won't be interference from other fish.

Last thing I want is for them to be a meal :(

Here are some photos of the JD couple, the eggs.

Latest update is that I have found wigglies, Mummy fish keeps moving them around.

The little tank is set up now and cycling so as soon as they are free swimmers I'll move them over. Also will be putting up a divider soon. Hoping to get that done tonight or tomorrow.

Enjoy :)

Btw, sorry about the photos not being very clear...:(

that's awesome, i'm glad you managed to find them, good luck. i'm going to guess they'll breed any where from every two weeks to every couple of months.

Looks like they'll be keeping me busy!!

For some reason they seem to have abandoned their original nesting ground and moved it to the other side of my main tank. They are making it very difficult for me to try to block things off. lol.

I have the seperate tank set up, it should be cycled. I have put two little fish in there to test it out and see if they make it through the night. If so then tomorrow I'll move the mom and wigglies.

Does anyone know the easiest way to move out wigglies??

Syphon them, I have done it many times with sucess, but be carefull not to syphon them in to anything that is empty, always syphon in to water at least 12" deep and use a small diameter hose if you can, they are fragile at that young age, best to leave with the parents for 10-14 days.

Well as a final note on all of this!

Fish wigglers have disappeared... SO, in a final effort I have moved the couple into the tiny tank just till they decide to get it on and give off a second batch.

Tank is a bit on the tiny side (roughly 20g?) but they aren't bigger than 2.5/3 inches so it seems fine - they don't look cramped at all and have a cave to hide in.

So, hoping they'll give off a second batch soon. Temp is up (28 degrees), high protein food AND a nice candle on the side of extra ambiance.
