u didnt answer my other question, bare minimum tank/pond size?

That's really a toss up. I would say a 75 would be a good start but be ready to move it to a 6' tank if it gets big. For some reason everything that I've read says they tend to die at 12"

I'm going to do what I can to keep that from happening. I don't really know what their growth rate is, but even at small sizes, these guys are nuts.

IMO the reason for the death at 12inches is strickly due to what type of Payara you have. Some species are smaller than others. Some may not ever attain a length of greater than 12" in the home aquarium. Others get huge.

That was my thoughts as well. The Armatus (sp?) gets massive and may get larger in an aquarium, but is more difficult to find. There is 4 different types from what I understand, but I suck at pinning and ID on a fish. Maybe someone could help?

Looks awesome bro!!!

I would say that you have yourself a H. Scomberoides. Pretty much the smaller of the species.

nice lookin fish rallys/

Nah, dont worry about it. I think that it's the one that I have, but I'm not certain. There isnt a ton of info that I can find out there.
