This is Jade and Oliver’s first spawn together. And the first time Jade has laid any eggs. So I’m impressed she is doing so well. I will be raising some of her fry. I’ll have to make a call on how I want to keep the spawns separate. I might just have to pull Greenies eggs out. I hate to do that to her, but if I don’t I’m sure the two groups will intermingle eventually and I won’t be able to tell the gold to silver ratio in her spawn.
That’s one option anyway.
Greenies eggs started hatching last night and are finishing up this morning.
She laid a lot of eggs this time around so we have hundreds of little wigglers.
Little eggs with tails, haha.
Jades babies are now swimmers.
I’ll have to pull some soon. I’m sure I won’t get them all, but hopefully most. I’ll have to start a culling process too. I have so much fry from 3 different spawns now.
If anyone has tips for culling I’d love to hear them.
It’s been a few months since updating this thread. I’ve only moved the driftwood slightly otherwise the tank looks pretty much the same still.
The biggest change has been everyone’s attitudes.
They all swim together now. Greenie and Jade don’t fight anymore and are often swimming side by side. Oliver is still himself. Master of the tank and dancing for the ladies. Lol
It’s just been so nice to have the tank be calm and not divided.
You can only see a few in the pictures, but there are still 20+ babies in the tank. I can’t catch them little monsters >.<
Maybe they are the reason everything is so calm. Jade hasn’t laid any eggs in a couple months because they eat her eggs. Greenie still lays like clockwork dispit the babies always being eaten.
Looking back at this thread I figured an update was in order.
The tank sprung a leak. It took me a while but I got it resealed and back up and running.
Another fts with the pump turned down a little so it has less micro bubbles.
I finally added some green this time
And as an added bonus here is a little girl from that batch of fry Jade had.
Might not be a keeper, but I’m seeing how she will do being away from her siblings.
